Own Income Visa is for those who are basically pensioners or passive income earners e.g. property rentals, financial investments, profits and dividends from a company, copyrights, etc. To be eligible for the visa, the applicant must have proof of income that exceeds the Portuguese minimum wage (currently €705) per month.
Eligibility
To be a successful applicant, You must be able to manifest that you have a sufficient source of passive income which can be drawn from a pension, rental, profits/ dividends, or a certain category of investments. The Applicant is required to,
- Minimum wage for the Main Applicant is currently €8,500 per annum.
- Minimum wage for the Spouse/Parents of Main Applicants is currently €3,810 per annum.
- Minimum wage for the Dependent children is currently €2,292 per annum.
- Applicants are advised to keep a minimum amount equivalent to 12 months' income within a Portuguese Bank Account
Dependent Eligibility
The Main applicant can include the below family members as dependants within their application,
- A spouse or partner.
- A minor or incapacitated child.
- Children older than 18, who are single and studying in an educational establishment in Portugal.
- Dependent parents of the main applicant or their spouse.
- Minor siblings, who are legally deemed to be in the care of the main applicant.
Visa Application Requirements
- The applicant is required to present proof of the source of the income.
- Applicants must register with local TAX authorities and obtain a TAX ID number.
- You are also required to open a bank account in Portugal to prove that you’re able to send the money from your country to Portugal. – It is possible to do it remotely.
- The Portuguese Bank account must need to have at least €8500 per adult (equivalent to 12 X the Portuguese minimum wage €705).
